Pese a que las temperaturas han descendido en la �ltima d�cada, los glaciares en algunos lugares del mundo siguen desapareciendo (aunque otros siguen creciendo) supuestamente debido al calentamiento global antropog�nico, del cual ahora existen muchas dudas basadas en evidencias cient�ficas.
Este es el caso del glaciar Jakobshavn cuya velocidad de derretimiento se ha duplicado en la �ltima d�cada pese a que las temperaturas promedio globales se han enfriado. �Qu� provoca este fen�meno aparentemente sin sentido? una explicaci�n m�s sencilla sugerir�a que en realidad no existe un "clima global" sino un conjunto de climas regionales, que a�n sin explicaci�n, no influir�an unos sobre otros o su influencia entre s� ser�a m�nima. Esta teor�a tendr�a m�s sentido debido a la desproporci�n de los continentes, los tipos de suelo y biomasa en estos y la desigual intensidad de la radiaci�n solar que llega y se conserva en las distintas regiones del planeta.
